9781250013002_p0_v1_s600The Event Group tackles their most challenging mission yet in this no-holds-barred thrill ride from the New York Times bestselling author of Ripper and Legacy

Perfect for fans of Clive Cussler, James Rollins, and Matthew Reilly, the latest gripping thriller from David L. Golemon takes the Event Group—the nation’s most secret

agency—to the brink in a heart-stopping race against time.

Rumors of the seemingly magical victory that allowed the Exodus of Israelites from Egypt have resonated through the archaeological world for decades. Now evidence has been discovered that points to a new explanation of how the ancient Hebrews destroyed the unstoppable army of Pharaoh with a tribe of warriors who disappeared a generation later, after the destruction of the City of Jericho, taking with them the most valued treasures of a people without a homeland.

Today a treasure of a different kind is unearthed at the lost ruins of Jericho, one that will change the history of God’s Chosen People for all time—the petrified remains of an animal that could not exist. Enter the Event Group. Led by Col. Jack Collins, the Group’s brilliant men and women gather to discover the truth behind not only the Exodus, but also the magnificent animals that led the defeat of Pharoah’s army. On a whirlwind race to save the most valuable treasure and artifacts in the history of the world from those who would destroy them, the Event Group will come face-to-face with every myth, legend, and historical truth that has ever unfolded in the mythic and larger-than-life Carpathians—or as the area was once known, Transylvania, the land of Vlad the Impaler.

The newest pulse-pounding installment in the New York Times bestselling Event Group Series, Carpathian pushes the limits of suspense, where every chapter contains new twists and revelations in this exciting, page-turning read.

Behind it, there are Fools. At least, that’s what everyone says.
I have never seen one.’

Leia lives on the Island, a world in which children leave their parents to take care of themselves when they are ten years old. Across this Island runs a wall that no one has ever crossed. The Fools living behind it are not amenable to reason – they believe in illusions. That’s what The Book says, the only thing left to the Eastern Islanders by their ancestors.

Release Day Event: Outside the Lines by Kimberly Kincaid

Banner (2)

As an ivy-league ER doctor who eats double shifts for breakfast (and lunch…and dinner), Blake Fisher has little appetite for anything other than work. Being on the staff at Brenstville Hospital means taking care of people, a need Blake understands all too well from losing his brother to cystic fibrosis eight years ago. When he’s asked to coordinate a carnival fundraiser for the cause, he jumps at the chance to help others with the disease…until it lands him side by side with the one woman he never thought he’d see again: his ex-fiancée.

Streetwise and rough around the edges, Jules Shaw is no stranger to earning a living through hard work. But when her job as the restaurant manager of Mac’s Diner puts her shoulder to really broad shoulder with Blake Fisher, she nearly balks. She’d rather dodge and deflect than admit the real reason she broke things off, but the catering contract for the carnival means big business for Mac’s, and feeding people is Jules’s lifeblood.

As Blake and Jules join reluctant forces, they quickly rediscover the spark between them. But the possibility of a future together hinges on coming clean about the past, with potentially devastating consequences. Can Blake and Jules overcome their drastically different backgrounds and learn to love again, or will they always be outside the lines?

excerpt

Greg wandered into the small living room. He wasn’t tired enough to go to bed yet, but it felt strange roaming around Nicola’s apartment while she was asleep. Almost as if he was a trespasser. He stood in the middle of the room, and surveyed it. Where would he put his own stuff, his clothes and his few belongings, when he moved in while they house-hunted?

Tomatoes. It came to him all of a sudden why there were none in Nicola’s fridge. She was allergic to them. Just like his mother. Like…her mother?

“Greg, have you thought about what will happen if things are not back to normal?” His father’s words echoed in his head.

“No!” he said with hoarse intensity, fists clenched. “I have not! I will not!”

He flicked off the light switch with one decisive swipe and strode down the hallway. It wasn’t a long hallway, though, and didn’t lend itself to striding, and after only a few steps he was in the bedroom. Greg undressed and walked around the bed, to what had become his side. Nicola stirred, and mumbled something, when he slipped under the covers. He turned on his side and slid over so that their bodies touched, not enough to wake her but enough so he could feel her against him.

Dear God, to never feel her like this again? Never make love to her, never see her eyes glow with warmth when she saw him in the morning? Never hold their children in his arms?

“It isn’t true,” he whispered.

Review: Gold Manor Ghost House by Merry Brown

Blurb from Goodreads:

Anna thought life was going to be awesome. She was right…and wrong.
Won her dream job acting in a hit TV series. Check.
Working with her best friend. Check.
Met the boy of her dreams. Check.
The set’s haunted and she’s in the middle of a supernatural war. Uh, check?

Anna Rose Ellington is sixteen and living in Hollywood, hoping to be a star. Anna just landed a major role on Ghost House, TeenTV’s new fall drama. A show promising to be so hot, Meg Sweet (the reigning teenage diva), signed on for the lead, and Adam Lewis (international rock sensation) is a principal player.

Her dreams are falling into place until she gets on set and begins questioning her sanity. It’s true she has an unusual dream life, where once in a while her dreams literally come true. But it’s been a while. On top of her dreams not staying put in her brain, including the guy she’d been dreaming of for years, the house they’re filming in, Gold Manor, might actually be haunted. But that’s the least of her worries.

Review:

This was actually I nice story, I was really looking forward to getting to know more about this ghost house and the special abilities Anna had. I started reading about Four Families and some curse and I was really intrigued. But then… holes. There was not much explanation. I could kind of understand why certain relationships developed very quick, but I was a little bothered by it. Not too much, somewhere there is a kind of rationality to the fast relationship. What bothered me though is the way I was teased with supernatural, curses, powers and then… nothing? Like a fata morgana, shimmering with it’s beauty and when you get there… nothing. That was a little disappointing. The female lead was likeable, the story was cute, as was the back story, actress on a starting teen supernatural show? Behind the set access? Yum! But I would’ve loved if there was a little more body to the story. And I mean the real story. The rest had more then enough body. But based on the fact I didn’t get more on the real story, the why’s and what’s and the holes I saw, I can’t really rate this story very high for myself. But maybe you will love it?
