For Chloe, the ocean was supposed to mean safety and for a time, it almost did. She overcame the Sylphaen’s drugs. She discovered an unforeseen attraction to Zeke, one that he shares for her. A life underwater seemed possible, until she learned that nothing was as it appeared.

After an unspeakable betrayal shattered everything she thought she knew about Zeke’s world, she and Zeke have fled the ocean for the one place Chloe never expected to want to go.

Home.

But the challenge of living as a mermaid over a thousand miles from the ocean isn’t the only problem facing her. Home has changed. Enemies are waiting, ones she never saw coming. Her little Kansas town is full of surprises.

Including Noah, the guy she left behind.

“…do it in Jeri’s old room.”
Earl’s words filtered through the cotton stuffing in my head, barely making sense.
“Yeah, well, seemed fitting.” He paused. “Listen, Richard, I called you as a courtesy, on account of how you said one got away from you yesterday. But it took me an hour after the girl collapsed to get the boy to finally conk out, and with that damn scum-sucker metabolism of theirs, you know I can’t promise either of ‘em will be down for long. You and your boys want any part of this, you better hurry up and get here.”
Alarm struggled through me, weighed down by an exhaustion that wanted to smother my mind back into sleep. Scum-sucker? He…
“Hang on,” Earl said as though interrupting someone. “One of them ain’t breathing the same as they were.”
My heart began to pound harder while I fought to open my eyes. Breathing? He sounded so far away. How could he hear anyone breathing?
Footsteps clunked on the hardwood floor. Light pierced the blackness around me as I managed to lift my eyelids. I was on the bed, facing the doorway. In the window seat, Zeke was slumped, his head resting on the wall. The room was dark around us, though the hall light was on.
Earl came to the door. In one hand, he held a phone to his ear, and at the sight of me, he made an angry noise.
“What’d I tell you? The girl’s awake.”
He dropped the phone onto the window seat as he strode toward me, and all my dull commands to my muscles couldn’t make my body move. Striding past me, he retrieved something from the dresser and then returned with a sports bottle in his hand.
I tried to pull away, but he just reached down and grabbed my head from behind, lifting it toward him. With his teeth, he popped open the top of the bottle and then shoved it into my mouth.
Bitter-tasting liquid flooded my throat. I choked, the drink spewing from my lips, but he just dropped the bottle and clamped an enormous hand over the lower half of my face.
“Swallow,” he ordered.
I stared up at him. His grip tightened on my hair, tugging at my scalp.
“Now.”

~An Awakened Fate Novella which follows Return, Book Three of the Awakened Fate Series~

The guards took up positions beside me when I left the room and headed for the main hall.
“Princess.”
I tried not to swear, knowing anyone who overheard would only use it as gossip about my current mental state.
But a slew of choice words presented themselves.
This wasn’t fair, I told the universe silently. Not even a little bit.
I glanced back to see Egan swimming down the hall toward me. With his silver scales, dark eyes, and hair so light it seemed like snow even though he was only a year older than me, he looked like a sculptor’s dream, and just as incredible as ever.
It only made me hate him a little bit more. Killing that damn flutter in my stomach would’ve been so much easier if he was ugly.

I swallow hard and risk a glance
up, checking how much farther I have till I reach my building.
My steps falter.
The sidewalks this close to the
quad are crowded, even for late morning. Students are everywhere: walking,
hanging out, waiting for buses or rushing to their next class. Wisps of fog
drift through the air around them, a bit here, a bit there, none of it as dense
as what had been at the club but all of it misty and sparkling.
And suddenly, I’m shaking and I
can’t stop. I feel so strange. So desperate, like a junkie who’s gone too long
without a hit. I want to cry. Run like hell but I can’t make my feet move. I’m
fairly certain my mouth is open, panting.
What’s wrong with me?

What happens when you uncover years of secrets and find out everything you thought to be true was a lie?

Drew Stevens finds her world turned upside down when her parents are brutally murdered. Soon after, she learns she inherited a property in Bar Harbor, Maine, from recently deceased grandparents that she believed had died when she was a baby.

Drew travels north to settle her grandparents’ estate, but finds more questions than answers as the truth starts unraveling. What she didn’t expect to find was Saint, whose reputation is as tumultuous as his past. But the very thing that brings them together is the same thing that keeps them emotionally caged.

With Saint’s scars so deep and Drew’s so fresh, can the pair heal from their painful wounds or will they be pulled beneath the darkness of their pasts?

First off, can you tell us a little bit about yourself?

I’m a New Englander at heart, though I now live in Florida. My husband and I have two dogs that absolutely run our lives. One sleeps on my head…the dog, not the husband. I love traveling, flip-flops, manicures, sexy words, chocolate and reading. My writing tends to be dark, emotional, and often extremely gritty. I enjoy tapping into topics that are difficult to discuss, but that people can relate to on some level.

Can you tell us something that not a lot of people know about you?

I eat a whole pineapple almost every day. It’s a strange addiction, I know.

Where did the idea for Pulled Beneath come from?

I’ve always been fascinated with the decisions people make when they’ve been affected by tragedy. Whether they reach for substances, communicate their feelings, or they bury into the deepest, darkest hole. When I decided to explore all three, Pulled Beneath was born.

How is Saint similar and/or different compared to other heroes in romance books?

Saint’s past is extremely harrowing and shadowy. His darkness is layered and within those layers he’s learned some valuable lessons, he just doesn’t realize their importance. He doesn’t set out to be the hero. He doesn’t even think someone like him could ever be a hero. But when he meets someone who is as emotionally damaged as him, he finds out those lessons can make a difference.

Tell us a little about your writing process. Any pre-writing rituals or routines?

Once an idea comes to me, things tend to move pretty quickly. I create a brief outline, which I share with my editor to make sure my points and loops all mesh, and then I start writing. It usually takes me about six weeks to finish the first draft. Music is always playing and the beats change for each book. Water, iced tea or Diet Coke is within reach.

When you create your characters do you ever put bits of either your personality or bits of personalities from people close to you?

Always. It happens naturally and I often don’t realize it until I finish the first draft. There’s a part of me in every heroine and I find myself revealing a bit more of my personality, my past and experiences with each book. I don’t write about people I know, I write about people I want to meet.

What are some good books you’ve read lately?

I’m obsessed with the Songs of Submission Series by C.D. Reiss. I also recently read Veiled Innocence by Ella Frank and I loved it. Actually, I love anything Ella Frank writes.

If you could collaborate with another author in writing a book, who would it be?

Tarryn Fisher. She has a brilliant mind and she’s an epic storyteller.

I’m a New Englander at heart and now a Floridian, inspired by the sandy beaches and hot pink sunsets of Sarasota. As a writer of erotic romance, new adult and literary fiction, I tap a mainstream appeal and shake worldwide taboos, taking my readers on a dark, harrowing, and breathtaking journey. When I’m not nose deep in my laptop, I’m scouring for chocolate, traveling, reading, or walking my four-legged children.

Excerpt 1
Janessa folded her arms and looked at me for so long I started to
squirm. “What?”
“I wish you’d look at yourself. You’re ruining your life with this stupid
obsession.”
“I’m not obsessed.” I stood up quickly, nearly tipping my chair over. I
rinsed my plate and put it in the dishwasher. I could feel Janessa’s eyes on me
the entire time, but I refused to look at her. “And just because I’m not
interested in this guy doesn’t mean my life is ruined.”
“Let me guess. Was he blond?”
“Knock it off.”
“Too short?”
“He wasn’t short. I’ve got to go.” I left the kitchen with Janessa on my
heels.
“Was he too cheerful?”
“Oh brother. I’m not having this conversation with you.”
Janessa grabbed my arm and turned me toward her. “Yes, you are.”
“I’m going to be late for work.”
“Then we’d better talk fast.”
“I don’t have anything to say,” I said.
“Then I’ll talk. You listen. You have to start giving these guys a
chance.”
I folded my arms tightly. “I give them a chance.”
“You give them one date, two at the most. But you’re not really giving
them a chance because your mind’s already made up before you even go out.”
I was getting annoyed. “I don’t have time for this conversation again.”
Janessa was practically reciting word for word what she’d said after my last
date. And the one before that.
“Lizzie. If you don’t want to have the same conversation, do something
different. Shake things up a little.” She smiled and did a little shimmy. I
refused to smile no matter how silly she looked.
“How do you suggest I do that?”
“If this guy… What’s his name?”
“Chad.”
“If Chad calls you back, go out with him again.”
“I don’t see the point.”
“Did you get a serial killer vibe from him?”
“No, I got a nice-guy-that-doesn’t-deserve-to-be-led-on vibe from him.”
“Nice guys are good. So you’ll say yes, right?”
“If I’m not interested, it wouldn’t be fair to say yes.”
“Oh knock off the baloney. You haven’t been fair to a guy since high
school. You’re just afraid if you get to know a guy, you might like him. And
wouldn’t that be awful? Was Chad funny?”
“Yes, he was funny.”
“Handsome?”
I sighed. “I don’t know if I’d call him handsome, but he was cute.”
“Cute is good. Especially if he was funny. So go out with him again.”
“You act like it’s all up to me.” I walked to the closet and collected
my purse. Like a tiger leaping on her prey, Janessa pounced at the bowl on the
entry table and grabbed my car keys. “This isn’t funny, Janessa. I’m going to
be late for work.”
“Then let’s make a deal. You agree to go out with him ten times before
you toss him aside and I’ll give you your keys.”
“Ten times? No way.”
“That’ll give you time to get to know him.”
“You’ve got to be kidding.”
“I’m serious, Lizzie. Ten is a good number. In that amount of time, you
can make a real decision. Instead of one based on a stupid movie.”
Now Janessa was skipping through a minefield. “It’s not a stupid movie
and I’ve got to go.”
“It’s the stupidest movie in the world if it ruins your life.”
“Nothing’s ruining my life and I’m going to be late. Give me my keys and
we’ll talk about this later.” A little tussle ensued as I tried to rescue my
keys from her clutches. I almost had them when she darted to the bathroom and
shut the door hard and fast, locking it behind her. “This is real mature.”
“I don’t care about mature. You’re my best friend, Lizzie.  I love
you and I’m trying to save you from yourself.”
I banged on the door. “Give me the keys. Now.” My voice had become
shrieky.
“I’ll give you the keys as soon as you promise you’ll go out with him
ten times.”
“I doubt he’ll ask me out again.”
“Why? Were you a jerk?”
“No.”
“Are you sure?”
I hesitated, knowing I hadn’t been very good company. “I’m pretty sure.”
“If he doesn’t ask you out, you have to ask him.”
“No way am I asking out a guy ten times. No way!”
“You just have to ask him out once. If he doesn’t return the favor you
can move on. But you have to be nice to him and give him a reason to want to
ask you out again.”
“This is the dumbest idea you’ve ever had.”
“Listen Liz, I’m doing this for you. Give a guy a chance before you give
him the old heave-ho.”
I leaned my head on the door. “Just give me the keys. Please.” Now I was
whining.
“You’re the one keeping yourself from your keys. And probably true
love.”
I looked at my watch. Now I’d have to risk a speeding ticket or get to
work five minutes late. I wasn’t sure which was worse—a ticket from a police
officer or a tongue-lashing from Delia.
“Fine. I’ll go out with him again if he asks me.”
“And?”
“If he doesn’t ask me, I’ll ask him?”
“Right. And how many times will you go out with him?”
“Way too many,” I said under my breath.
“I can’t hear you.”
“Ten times. If he asks me.”
The door cracked open. “And you’ll be nice to him?”
“Whatever you say. Now give me the keys.”
Janessa emerged from the bathroom and triumphantly dropped my keys into
my outstretched hand.
“You’re an idiot,” I said.
“An idiot that loves you and wants you to be happy,” she said. She
turned and headed down the hall. “Someday you’ll thank me,” she sang.
“If I don’t kill you first.” I slammed the door behind me.

UNTOUCHED is a prequel novella to the USA Today Bestselling UNBROKEN. It also can be read as a stand-alone story.

“Hey,” he grins, easy, and slides his hand around the back of my neck, pulling me in for a long, lazy kiss. My heart is racing as I taste him, mint and coffee, and something else, something all Emerson.“You ready?”He puts the truck back in drive, and then slings his right arm around my shoulder. I snuggle closer, reveling in the touch of him.“Ready for what?” I ask, as he turns out of town.“This is our first date.” Emerson announces.

“Really?” I laugh. “I thought we were a long way past that.”

Like, three bases past.

I blush at the reminder, and I can tell from his wolfish grin that Emerson’s thinking the same thing.

“A girl like you deserves a real date,” Emerson declares. “Not just groping in the dark somewhere.”

“In case you’ve forgotten, I kind of liked the whole groping in the dark thing,” I say, amazed at my boldness.

Emerson laughs. “Only kind of? Sweetheart, if that was you kind of liking something, I can’t wait to see what happens when you love it.”

“You’ll just have to find out then, won’t you?” I tease.

“Oh, I will. Believe me, baby. I’ve got plans for the two of us.” Emerson gives me that look again, dark and wild. He curves his lips into a teasing grin.
